Kenwood Prospero Compact KM265 4.3 Litre Food Mixer

When my mother-in-law presented me with her old Kenwood food mixer some 15 years ago, I wasn´t sure if I would ever make any use of it.

But you never look a gift horse in the mouth, so I gratefully accepted it and funnily enough seemed to find more and more reasons to use it.

It finally gave up the fight two months ago which forced me to look for a replacement. Nowadays there are so many to chose from it was difficult to decide which one was the best for my budget.

But I eventually settled on the Kenwood Prospero Compact KM265 4.3 litre food mixer.

From the very first time of using it I was extremely pleased with my choice. The powerful 650 watt motor makes short work of any job.

My initial thoughts on this Kenwood food mixer were very positive. I liked the fact that the machine came with a splash guard, so no more flour dust clouds for me to have to clean up.

The instruction manual is very easy to understand plus it also comes with a CD Rom with 90 recipes included on it.

Once my new Kenwood Prospero Compact KM265 4.3 litre food mixer was unpacked and cleaned I set to work trying it out.

One thing I was not too sure about at first was the sturdiness of the stainless steel bowl. But I have to say it´s taken a few knocks over the last couple of weeks and has not shown any signs of dents or scratches.

I like the fact that my mixer comes with an assortment of various gadgets, such as the three food processing plates which allow you to do either thick / thin slicing or shredding as well as rasping too. Plus there are tools which include a dough hook, a whisk and K beater as well.

The liquidiser has proved to be a useful addition too as I have always liked to make my own soups, and now it is so easy.

One of the things I learned about this machine, which I´d never heard of before, was that it uses a planetary mixing motion. Which basically means it scoops up all the ingredients and mixes them all together.

With my old food mixer I would have to stop every so often to stir in the flour, sugar or eggs that had got stuck to the sides of the bowl. So for me this is a real time. Well done Kenwood!

The one attachment that got the thumbs up from our 17 year old daughter, who is a real juice freak, was the citrus press. She now spends her time in the kitchen creating all her own juices and even experimenting with some new ones.

I love the fact that I don´t ever have to pack my new Kenwood Prospero compact KM265 4.3 litre food mixer away like I did my old one. Being so compact this food mixer takes up far less room on my worktop.

The only downside for me, if there is one at all, is that fact that the machine wobbles a little. But that is only a minor thing compared with all the other benefits of this Kenwood food mixer

The machine does wobble slightly but as you are standing over it putting in the ingredients it is no real problem. I would have liked the machine to have come with a cover to keep it clean when it is left to sits on my work surface.

From my research into the Kenwood Prospero Compact KM265 food mixer I came across more than a hundred comments on this machine, the vast majority being very positive.

Kenwood is a name that have become the crème de la crème of food mixers and this compact machine is obviously no different. So many people stated how pleased they please they were with their purchase. Many commenting on how good the processor and blender was.

A large number of people complimented this food mixer on its robust build and in particular the attachment locking mechanism which gives a definite click when the blender/processor are locked in place.

Kenwood food mixers have proved themselves to be very reliable over the years and I have no doubt this particular stand mixer will do the same.
